Congratulations to Grants Committee Vice Chair Maxwell Booker on being named a 2022 U.S. Presidential Scholar! Established in 1964, by executive order of the President, to recognize and honor some of the United States’ most distinguished graduating high school seniors, Booker is one of 161 students recognized in 2022.
The first African-American to earn this prestigious honor at Spartanburg High School, Booker is a National Merit Scholar, as well as the Heisman High School Recipient at his high school.
Accepted to several prestigious schools, including all of the six Ivy Leagues he applied to, Booker received over one million dollars in institutional and merit scholarships.
He will be attending Harvard University in the fall of 2022.
